As you can see, Jettison Jules's logo is a beautifully fancy purple octopus. Why an octopus, you ask? What the heck does an octopus have to do with Jettison Jules? Here is the backstory of the logo.
I, Jules, am fascinated by octopuses. I always thought they were interesting creatures, but once I watched My Octopus Teacher on Netflix, my fascination turned into true love. Watching the relationship unfold between the octopus and the filmmaker is a pleasure, and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their interactions. My emotions ran the gamut, and if you are sensitive and empathic like me, grab some tissues before you watch.
Octopuses are unique. They are not only intelligent, but also have blue blood, have three hearts, and are filled with personality, or at least they seem to.
When I jumped into the process of coming up with a name and a logo for Jettison Jules, I had some requirements: octopus, double letters, my kids' involvement, the color purple, beautiful and fun. With my kids' help, we went through MANY iterations and settled on Jettison Jules for these reasons:
The meaning of Jettison: getting rid of things that no longer serve you
Jules is my nickname and it has a double meaning, also Jewels (I don't have a lot of jewels to get rid of, but I might in the future)
The octopus logo represents me and my kids = three hearts
Octopuses have eight arms, which offers them the innate ability to multitask, must like Moms: caring for kids while working, while shopping, while cooking dinner, while cleaning up, while doing laundry, while making school lunches)
The color purple represents royalty, wealth and extravagance, and although Jettison Jules is not a luxury site, per se, I do strive to have higher quality name brands
The color purple also is meaningful as it represents domestic abuse awareness, a cause that is very important to me
JJ is the name of our beloved Octopus. And JJ loves to shop (she needs to put her limbs to good use) and even has a signature shopping bag!
